Central Presbyterian
Central Presbyterian Church at 1155 Thurlow is a historic Reformed congregation that also supports seniors housing above the church. The Journey Society project streamlined operations in Microsoft Teams and refreshed media and streaming for reliable online worship and events. Ongoing IT managed services support Microsoft 365, Teams, and Zoom Professional.
Central Presbyterian Church
Central Presbyterian is one of Vancouver's older congregations, sitting at 1155 Thurlow Street in the West End since before the 1925 church union. They stayed Presbyterian when most didn't, and they've been in the Reformed tradition ever since. The building holds both the sanctuary and over forty affordable apartments for older adults living independently in downtown Vancouver. It's a working church in every sense of the word.
The JS Project
Journey Society helped Central modernize its technology infrastructure. The site operates across worship spaces, housing, staff, volunteers, and ministry teams. Journey Society secured Microsoft 365 and Teams through nonprofit licensing and deployed it across the organization, centralizing communication and operations.
A Low Barrier Approach
Day-to-day operations moved into Microsoft Teams. Communication, files, and meetings consolidated into a single platform accessible to the whole team. Training took time, particularly for staff with established workflows. The result was faster access to information and clearer communication across the organization.
Alongside that, Journey Society supported a refreshed media and streaming setup so Central can put worship and community gatherings online with consistent, reliable production.
Project Status
Modernization is complete. The systems are in place and the teams are using them.
