The Blood Remembers Documentary

The Blood Remembers

In 2022, Jeremy Skibicki murdered four Indigenous women in Winnipeg and left their remains in the garbage: Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, Rebecca Contois, and a woman community leaders named Mashkode Bizhiki'ikwe, Buffalo Woman. Police resisted searching the Prairie Green landfill for their remains. The provincial government backed that decision. This film follows the families' fight for justice.

The Film

Camp Morgan went up at the Brady Road Landfill. Camp Marcedes went up outside the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Families. Community. People who had nothing left to do but show up and stay. The Conservative government in Manitoba responded with injunctions and arrests. An election followed. The NDP won a historic majority and Wab Kinew became the first First Nations Premier in Canadian history.
